Holding the line. Healing the mind.
Firefighters face higher risks of suicide, depression, and addiction than most professions. Our mission is to bring wellness resources directly into the firehouse while also extending support to the spouses and families who walk this journey alongside their firefighters. Because when we strengthen the health of the firefighter, we strengthen the family, the department, and the community they serve.
How we help
Providing Recovery to First Responders
Recovery rooms are a dedicated wellness space built directly into the firehouse, giving firefighters access to recovery tools where and when they need them most. It supports mental, emotional, and physical recovery after high-stress calls by making wellness a normal, accessible part of the job.

Testimonials:
"I recently had the opportunity to go to a fire academy to pursue greater knowledge and skill as well as push my body to its limits. Being able to utilize the wellness room during these past couple of months has definitely shown me how important it is to dedicate at least 30 minutes to an hour to improving and relaxing my body. So I can recover and be the best firefighter I can be."

"In my time at Rock Creek Fire I have used facilities outside of our fire house to help with my physical and mental well-being. Now that we have the opportunity to have the wellness room in our firehouse it has greatly impacted my life for the better with the resources to work on myself and have them readily available."

“As a firefighter, my body takes a beating—whether it’s the weight of the turnout gear, the physical toll of a long shift, or just the general stress of the job. I recently spent some time in the wellness room, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best resources available to us for physical and mental recovery.
The massage chair is a lifesaver. After a shift spent on my feet or handling heavy equipment, it’s powerful enough to work out the deep knots in my lower back and shoulders that standard stretching just can't reach.
The sauna is incredible for recovery. There is no better way to ‘sweat out the shift.’ Beyond the relaxation, the heat is incredible for soothing sore joints and clearing out the lungs. It’s a vital tool for decompressing after a high-adrenaline call.
If you’re on the line and haven't utilized the wellness room yet, you’re missing out. It’s a massive win for our department’s health and longevity. I walked out feeling recharged, mobile, and ready for the next bell. For the crew, this is more than just a ‘perk’—it’s essential maintenance for the ‘human engine.’ Highly recommended.”

"When Firefighter Chris Johnson first introduced the concept of a dedicated wellness room, I was admittedly skeptical about whether our firefighters would embrace it or even use it. To my surprise, it has quickly become a valued space utilized regularly by all three shifts. It’s reassuring to know our crews now have a place at the station where they can decompress, recover, and reset after stressful calls or physically demanding operations.
I was already familiar with the benefits of the sauna in helping release toxins after fire events, but I’ve gained a much deeper appreciation for the positive effects of red-light therapy and cold-plunge recovery. As our members continue to learn more about the wellness program and experience its benefits firsthand, I’m confident its use—and its impact—will only continue to grow.
This room has become more than equipment and amenities; it represents an investment in the long-term health, resilience, and readiness of the Rock Creek Fire District and our employees."
